We\'re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team dedicated to the Associate Productivity Experience (APEX) org within EBS Walmart Global Tech. In this high-impact role, you will design and build next-generation, AI-based data solutions that directly influence the day-to-day operations of Walmart across multiple global markets. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Big Data and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies, coupled with knowledge of AI engineering principles. You will be challenged with complex business problems spanning multiple countries, a large number of users and data. About Team: Associate Productivity and Experience (APEX) The Enterprise People Technology team supports the successful deployment and adoption of new People technology across the enterprise. We aim to improve people technology and products to help managers and associates support customers and members. Walmart Global Tech\'s Enterprise Business Services (EBS) provides service operations and technology solutions for Finance, People, and the Associate Digital Experience. The team supports a large heterogeneous enterprise and builds software products to enhance associate productivity and mobility through AI solutions, seamless experience, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities

Data Strategy: Understands, articulates and applies principles of the defined strategy to routine business problems that involve a single function. Data Transformation and Integration: Extracts data from identified databases. Creates data pipelines and transforms data into a structure relevant to the problem; develops knowledge of analytics trends. Data Source Identification: Supports prioritization and service levels; helps identify suitable data sources and performs initial data quality checks. Data Modelling: Analyzes data elements, systems, data flows, dependencies, and relationships to contribute to data models; develops Logical and Physical Data Models including data warehouse and data mart designs; defines relational tables, keys, and stored procedures; evaluates models for variances and discrepancies; develops efficient data flows. Code Development and Testing: Writes code, creates test cases, proofs of concept, tests, and documentation; deploys software to production and maintains playbooks. Problem Formulation: Translates business problems into data or mathematical solutions; identifies methods to solve problems and demonstrates use cases. Applied Business Acumen: Provides recommendations to stakeholders; builds business cases with ROI or cost savings; translates requirements into projects and tasks; aligns to business strategy; connects needs with solutions. Data Governance: Establishes and documents governance projects; interprets policies; educates others on governance processes and guidelines. Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and guides others; supports efforts to meet customer and business needs. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field. 8+ years of relevant experience with Scala/Python (PySpark), distributed databases, Kafka, and multi-threading/funtional programming. Strong CS fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and problem solving. Professional hands-on experience in SQL and query optimization. Experience building data ingestion and consumption frameworks. Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow (preferred), Automic, etc. Hands-on data processing and data manipulation experience. Expertise with GCP data processing tools (GCS, DataProc, DPaaS, BigQuery, Hive, etc.). Experience with streaming data via Kafka or structured streaming. CI/CD automation experience with Git, Jenkins, and related tooling. Exposure to visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker). Knowledge of LLM agent development, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning LLMs (nice to have). Excellent communication skills and collaboration. Commitment to helping others work more effectively.
