As a Banking Service Professional, the Personal Banker will support sales and service activities within the banking office, educate existing and potential clients, and exemplify Valley's quality service standards. It involves providing a variety of banking solutions by analyzing needs, recommending solutions, and selling bank products and services to existing and potential clients.
Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley's mission statement; engage customers with friendly and professional service.
Know and educate customers on all Bank products and services; demonstrate and cross-sell as appropriate.
Present a confident and professional demeanor to establish trust; analyze customer needs and recommend appropriate products and services.
Meet with customers to analyze financial needs and maximize sales opportunities; open new accounts (checking, savings, CDs, IRAs) and discuss/sell loan products; promote online and mobile banking.
Meet customer expectations and service quality standards; participate in or oversee the sales referral process and assist management in coaching branch staff.
Perform transactions (teller and platform) and utilize technology to provide efficient services; maintain and balance cash; operate Teller Scanning Equipment and related cash handling technology; assist customers with coin machines.
Act as Vault Teller to ensure adequate branch cash, assist with currency ordering and distribution within prescribed limits.
Assist in community events (e.g., Habitat for Humanity) and participate in CRA initiatives, activities, and programs.
Report significant matters and unusual customer activity to Manager; stay knowledgeable about compliance and regulatory requirements.
Maintain knowledge of the Bank's Code of Conduct and all policies and procedures.
Required Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to write correspondence and demonstrate products and services to customers.
Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service, attentiveness, information retention, tact, and diplomacy.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities to resolve customer issues.
Ability to make on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions with consideration of customer satisfaction and Bank risk.
Ability to interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
Deep understanding of Retail Banking and strong customer service skills to engage customers in product discussions.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and high accuracy; ability to manage multiple projects.
Proficient computer skills.
Required Experience
High School diploma or GED and minimum 1 year of business services experience in branch banking and knowledge of branch operations or successful completion of a Valley Retail training program.
Associates or Bachelor's degree with concentration in accounting, business, finance, economics or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Experience
FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions).
