Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Human Resources Specialist to bolster our client's HR team, with a strong focus on payroll operations and employee experience. This pivotal role will drive accurate and efficient payroll processing while serving as a key point of contact for employee support, conflict resolution, and fostering positive workplace dynamics. In addition to handling core HR functions like onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and performance management, the ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in employment regulations, exceptional communication skills, and a genuine passion for building supportive, employee-centric environments. We need an adaptable professional who excels at managing confidential details and thrives in both people-focused interactions and procedural precision.

Responsibilities

Lead bi-weekly payroll processing for 200+ employees across multi-site operations, ensuring accuracy in time tracking, leave management, new hires, terminations, garnishments, uniform allowances, and retirement contributions—serving as the primary expert in resolving payroll discrepancies and maintaining compliance.

Drive employee relations initiatives, including mediating workplace issues, conducting investigations, providing guidance on policies, and promoting a collaborative culture through proactive engagement and support.

Manage new employee onboarding using an HRIS platform like ADP or equivalent.

Oversee administration of employee benefit programs.

Handle internal communications, such as newsletters and employee surveys.

Prepare required reports for regulatory bodies, including safety, health insurance, equal employment, and certified wage documentation.

Support insurance and compliance audits.

Coordinate documentation, procedures, and arrangements for temporary workforce programs.

Contribute to policy manuals to ensure ongoing compliance.

Perform additional duties as needed.

Skill Set

Proficiency in HR information systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office suite, with advanced skills in payroll modules.

In-depth knowledge of payroll compliance standards, labor laws, and best practices for employee relations, including conflict resolution and confidentiality protocols.

Strong understanding of HR principles and practices, particularly in maintaining sensitive information and supporting employee well-being.

Ability to deliver training on HR systems, payroll processes, and relations topics.

Empathetic, approachable demeanor with a proven track record in building trust and serving diverse team members.

Successful completion of a background check is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience:

3-5 years in HRIS systems such as ADP, with demonstrated expertise in payroll processing and employee relations.

Work Authorization:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Candidates may undergo drug screening and/or background checks, with driving privileges subject to location-specific requirements.
