Position:
Staff Accountant
at
Singing River Health System . Location: Singing River Administrative Building – Gautier, Mississippi. Employment type: Full-time. Schedule: Day shift. Address: 2101 Highway 90, Gautier, MS 39553, United States. The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in the preparation of monthly financial statements, budget reports and other reports, as well as maintaining the general ledger transactions, to reflect the financial operations of the Hospital System accurately. This professional position requires applying accounting, auditing, budgeting or reimbursement principles and regulations as applicable. Duties are performed in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation guidance, and governing requirements for health care employees. Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, budget reports and other required reports. Maintain general ledger transactions to accurately reflect financial operations. Research assignments and apply appropriate accounting, auditing, budgeting or reimbursement principles and regulations. Ensure work reflects Singing River Health System procedures, policies, accreditation guidance, and governing publications for health care employees. Qualifications
Education: High school graduate with courses in accounting, mathematics, and English required. Some college-level accounting courses preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related business preferred. License: None. Certification: Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training. Experience: Minimum of five (5) years bookkeeping experience in a hospital/healthcare setting preferred. Additional Details
Reports To: Accounting Manager. Supervises: None. Physical & Mental Demands
Work is moderately active; occasional travel to other facilities within the SRHS service area. Must be able to perform repetitive motions and perceive fine details; suitable vision and hearing capabilities are required. Must be able to work extended periods and adapt to scheduling needs, including off days, shifts or weekends as required by the hospital. Mental demands include keen decision-making, strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and attention to detail.
