Desktop Support Technician – Entry Level, Full Time Temporary 90 Day Employment, $20.00/hr Non Exempt, Non-Remote, Anchorage Alaska The Entry-Level Desktop Support Technician provides day-to-day technical assistance to Akeela staff, ensuring smooth operation of desktop systems and related hardware. This role focuses on delivering responsive support, maintaining system reliability, and assisting users with basic technology needs. Responsibilities
Provide first-level technical support for desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices. Install and configure Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office 365, and standard business applications. Assist with basic troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network connectivity issues. Perform routine system updates, antivirus checks, and patch installations under guidance. Document all support activities and resolutions in the ticketing system. Maintain an organized IT equipment inventory and assist with hardware deployment. Support printer setup and troubleshooting for multi-function devices. Provide basic user training on common applications and best practices. Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or external vendors as needed. Help maintain a clean and organized IT storage area. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; two-year associate degree in a computer-related course preferred IT certification such as CompTIA A+ or Network+ is preferred Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Outlook, Teams, OneDrive) Familiarity with desktop hardware components and peripheral devices Understanding of basic networking concepts (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, IP, DNS) Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities Excellent communication skills for assisting non-technical users Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently under supervision Demonstrates capacity for organization and prioritization in a dynamically changing environment Flexible and creative problem solver Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff and maintain effective interpersonal communication Ability to maintain confidentiality Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies Ability to lift and move IT equipment as needed Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for occasional offsite support Availability for occasional evening or weekend work for upgrades or emergency support; may be on-call for computing emergencies This position requires reporting on-site; remote or hybrid work is not available Job details
