Summary

The student Library Assistant II provide front-line support for circulation services, patron assistance, and library engagement activities. Building on prior library experience, ideally, this position carries responsibilities beyond those of a base-level student library assistant, including mentoring peers and contributing to displays and programming.

Circulation and Resource Support: Assist with checkouts, returns, and check-ins for Main Campus and OhioLink items. Manage holds in Alma by cancelling or extending as appropriate. Patron Assistance: Serve as a circulation and research resource for students and patrons, helping to ensure a welcoming service experience. Peer Mentorship: Provide mentorship for new student library assistants, sharing knowledge of library systems, policies, and best practices. Displays and Engagement: Assist with creation of rotating displays highlighting faculty publications, student and staff book selections, and other special collections that promote engagement with library resources. Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled at BGSU Firelands for at least six (6) credit hours. Familiar with Microsoft Office software (esp. Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Some supervisory experience in a workplace setting. Ability to follow directions, work well with others, and also work independently with limited supervision. Clerical and organizational skills helpful. Must be able to push library carts with books on them. Previous library experience preferred. Possess effective verbal and/or written communication skills. Possess the ability to think critically while making decisions.
