Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Adjunct Faculty (Part‑time), School of BTT

Job Summary

Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for part‑time Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Adjunct Faculty positions in the School of Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT). Faculty are appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester basis as needed. They are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines, develop syllabi and assessments, and actively participate in departmental communication.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating and Ventilation.
  • Develop and submit syllabi, exams, and learning strategies.
  • Assist department communication and participate in meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including emergency support for the state.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with at least five years of current occupational experience in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Heating, and Ventilation.
  • EPA 608 Universal certification.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to design curriculum, assessments, and work with students of diverse backgrounds.

Additional Considerations

  • Formal education from a certificate or higher degree program or apprenticeship in HVAC from an accredited school.
  • Other nationally recognized industry certifications.
  • Must be able to operate a state vehicle if applicable.

Work Schedule & Location

Hours and days vary based on course offerings and enrollment. The role is based in Roanoke, VA, and is part‑time.

Compensation

Per credit hour, rate is determined based on qualifications.

Applications will be received on a continuous basis and reviewed as adjunct faculty needs arise. Only online applications will be accepted. The submission must include a resume, cover letter, transcripts of high school and any college coursework, and a copy of your EPA 608 Universal certification.

All institutions attended must supply official transcripts; absence of transcripts will result in non‑acceptance of the application.
