Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) provides total care or helps residents by supporting personal hygiene and daily living needs and providing comfort. The CNA implements specific procedures and programs and coordinates work both within the department and with other departments. The CNA reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor, responds to inquiries or requests for information, and helps the immediate supervisor with tasks to support departmental operations.

Responsibilities

• Provides total care or helps residents with elimination needs, including toileting, by offering bed pan, urinal, or assisting to the bathroom; maintains cleanliness for incontinent residents; changes linens as needed; assists with ambulation, transferring, or positioning using assistive devices (walker, wheelchair, Hoyer lift, gait belt, lift sheets).
• Provides bed bath, tub bath, or shower; dental, hair, and nail care; shaving; dressing; undressing; and application of makeup.
• Makes residents\' beds, keeps rooms orderly, encourages self-help activities, answers call lights promptly, and responds to residents\' needs.
• Assists with or performs procedures under supervision, such as admitting, transferring, discharging residents; taking and recording vital signs; measuring intake and output; collecting specimens; applying hot/cold compresses; and related tasks.
• Assists with isolation care, safety procedures, and coordination of care with nursing staff; supports treatments and examinations as directed by nurses.
• Maintains proper body positioning and alignment; performs passive range of motion exercises and educates residents on active ROM.
• Encourages bedfast residents to change position regularly to promote circulation and prevent complications.
• Provides personal services and activities to residents as appropriate (reading, writing, recreational activities, etc.).
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Nursing Assistant training and current certification in good standing on the New Jersey Nurse Aide Registry
• Effective English communication skills, both verbal and written
• Dependability and punctuality with on-time reporting
• Ability to comply with state and federal regulations, OSHA safety standards, and mandatory education requirements
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines
• Commitment to resident rights and incident reporting procedures
• Willingness to follow Kosher dietary environment requirements
