Overview
The Institute of American Constitutional Thought & Leadership at the University of Toledo invites applications for multiple tenured faculty positions at the Associate or Full Professor rank to start in fall 2026. The Institute is an interdisciplinary center dedicated to the principles, institutions, and texts foundational for America’s constitutional order and Western Civilization. We are an honors-level “school within a school” at UToledo, providing courses, degree programs, and public events that enhance humanities offerings and serve the broader community.
Responsibilities
- Teach up to five courses per academic year.
- Engage in robust scholarly activity and mentor students; contribute to University and community service.
- Ideal candidates will be prepared to teach sections of CLT 2000: The American Constitutional Tradition (beginning Fall 2026).
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree by August 1, 2026.
- Commitment to the Institute’s mission.
- Excellent record of scholarship and robust research agenda; exemplary teaching.
- Willingness and demonstrated competency to teach courses on the American constitutional tradition broadly conceived.
- Experience engaging with a variety of academic, administrative, and public audiences.
Preferred/Additional
- Expertise in American political thought, American history, development of American institutions, or American constitutionalism.
- Interest in interdisciplinary teaching and research; experience building and managing academic/public programs.
