Principal Data Scientist – Identity Early Warning® seeks a senior technical leader to join its Data Science team, focused on risk and fraud. This role is based in Scottsdale, San Francisco, Chicago, or New York and supports a hybrid work model.

Candidates must independently possess the eligibility to work in the United States; this position does not offer visa sponsorship.

Overall Purpose A senior technical role within Data Sciences. The role leads analytical projects from concept to production, oversees model development and deployment, and mentors junior analysts. Frequent collaboration with other departments is expected.

Essential Functions

Design, develop, and maintain analytically derived models for risk assessment and fraud prevention.

Design data ETL processes and storage schemas for complex datasets.

Lead large‑scale business initiatives and provide technical ownership.

Prepare analytic design documentation and oversee solution documentation.

Direct analytic data processes and program development.

Research and recommend new analytical techniques and train team members.

Lead a data science team when required.

Manage multiple concurrent projects and control project timelines.

Present technical findings to management and technical colleagues.

Support the company’s commitment to data integrity and confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics or related field.

10 years of data analytics experience in a data‑rich environment (or equivalent).

7 years of experience in efficient programming for large‑scale data manipulation.

Advanced experience with PySpark, Scala, Hive and data mining/step programming.

Advanced knowledge of machine‑learning, predictive modeling, and optimization techniques.

Extensive knowledge of industry standard analytical data sources.

Strong ability to translate business requirements into analytic designs.

Excellent communication skills for non‑technical audiences.

Proven ability to evaluate and select optimal analytical approaches.

Leadership experience on large analytic projects partnering with cross‑functional teams.

Background and drug‑screen completion.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree.

Deep knowledge of advanced ML algorithms.

Experience with libraries such as scikit‑learn, pandas.

Proficient SQL and database tuning.

2+ years working with financial data.

Physical Requirements The job is primarily sedentary, requiring extensive use of a computer. Lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally; requires regular standing, walking, and use of hands for long periods. Visual acuity and dexterity to handle office equipment is necessary.

Pay Scale Phoenix, AZ / Chicago, IL: $158,000 – $205,000 per year. San Francisco, CA / New York, NY: $189,000 – $230,000 per year.
