Executive Recruiter with LHH Recruitment Solutions, North America at The Adecco Group. Specializing in Accounting & Finance We are seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to oversee complex financial operations across a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to take ownership of full-cycle accounting responsibilities, financial reporting, and strategic analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Accounting : Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for multiple commercial properties, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
Financial Reporting : Prepare and analyze property-level financial statements, variance reports, and owner packages; ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
Budgeting & Forecasting : Lead annual budget preparation and periodic reforecasting in collaboration with asset managers and property teams.
CAM Reconciliations : Oversee common area maintenance (CAM), real estate tax, and insurance reconciliations; ensure timely and accurate tenant billings.
Lease Analysis : Interpret lease agreements to ensure proper accounting for rent escalations, abatements, and recoveries.
Audit & Compliance : Serve as the primary contact for internal and external audits; ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Process Improvement : Identify and implement efficiencies in accounting workflows and systems; support system upgrades and automation initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with property management, leasing, legal, and asset management teams to support financial decision-making and resolve accounting issues.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
5+ years of property accounting experience, with a focus on commercial real estate.
Strong understanding of lease structures, CAM, and real estate financial operations.
Proficiency in property management/accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage).
Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling and reporting tools.
Excellent communication and analytical skills; ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders.

Salary & Location Secaucus, NJ: $85,000.00‑$100,000.00
Hudson County, NJ: $90,000.00‑$115,000.00
