Location: 50 miles of Boston, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Seattle, WA; Indianapolis, IN; Columbus, OH; or Plano, TX (hybrid schedule, office 2 days/week)
Description As a member of the Agile team, the Product Owner II represents the voice of the customer and the organization through the delivery of business value. This person works closely with stakeholders (business and technology), including line of business leadership, to define and prioritize features and stories, ensuring alignment with customer needs and organizational goals. Our program is a multi‑year, flagship initiative driving business transformation within the Workers Compensation (WC) line of business, powered by modern technology and a product‑centric mindset.
Responsibilities
Contributes to the creation of product vision and alignment with strategic priorities with stakeholders.
Communicates the product and portfolio vision to squads and other teams.
Tracks assigned product KPIs and manages products with a low‑medium degree of strategy, scope, and complexity.
Owns and maintains the product backlog and is accountable for its contents and prioritization.
Ensures clear, actionable user stories.
Sets priorities and actively participates in squad quarterly planning.
Collaborates with senior Product Owners to set portfolio quarterly planning priorities.
Participates in demos, retrospectives, and all other ceremonies.
Works daily with the Agile working group to clarify requirements, remove roadblocks, and support alignment around product strategy.
Aligns development and business goals while removing execution roadblocks.
Monitors product health to support long‑term viability and balance short‑ and long‑term costs with desired outcomes.
Analyzes and reports on feasibility, cost of delay, economies, or other aspects of planned or potential changes.
Understands regulatory, compliance, and industry constraints and prioritizes accordingly.
Negotiates with squads/teams to ensure priorities are aligned across portfolios.
Contributes to the squad product roadmap and strategy inputs from stakeholders.
May contribute to program/portfolio level planning and influences stakeholder expectations.
Communicates expected value and changes in value to be delivered in each iteration.
Supports customer‑driven design and usability testing.
Ensures a well‑positioned product through market and industry analysis.
Qualifications
Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management, typically with a Bachelors degree and 3‑5 years of direct agile experience plus 7 years in business, technology, or consulting.
Ability to depict and explain complex ideas to varied audiences and educate stakeholders on business vision and change impact.
Strong leadership and stakeholder influence skills.
Decisive and quick decision‑making under pressure.
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to lead a team toward solutions.
Insurance industry experience preferred.
Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio preferred.
Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amid uncertainty.
Pay Philosophy The typical starting salary range reflects a combination of skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. The full range represents competitive market value and allows for growth and development within the role. Some positions include commission and/or bonus earning potential.
