Account Director, Social Strategy
Weber Shandwick is seeking a Director, Social Strategy to join our team in Chicago. This is a client-facing role with the opportunity to work closely with senior and junior staff across teams to provide digital counsel and manage day-to-day work. You will contribute to social strategy development, liaising with clients on campaigns, researching trends, and delivering data-driven insights to inform future social media strategy.
POV: You're our new Director, Social Strategy On any given day, you could be working on social content strategy, liaising with a client on a paid social campaign, researching trending sounds on Instagram Reels, or helping to launch a podcast. You may explain the FYP to a client, compile reports on Instagram content performance, and learn about generative AI with Weber Shandwick subject matter experts. Each day may be different, but you will work hard on what you love with clients.
Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of social media campaigns integrated into larger paid, owned, and earned programs
Educate clients and colleagues about emerging trends, platforms, and best practices
Implement digital engagement campaigns for top-tier clients
Oversee clients’ social media channels including editorial planning, content development, paid media, social listening, monitoring, and analytics and ongoing social strategy
Inform the development of effective digital and social media creative and editorial assets to resonate with priority audiences and ensure high-value use of social channels
Serve as a key client contact for digital campaigns, providing project management and strategic counsel as needed; communicate effectively in written form and via Microsoft Teams or in person
Collaborate with senior internal staff to develop strategy and ensure client deliverables are met
Support new business development efforts in pitch development and presentations

You have a solid digital communications, marketing, or integrated communications background with experience across client campaigns. You should have exceptional project management skills, strong organizational abilities, and a desire to be involved in all aspects of the work from strategy to execution.
6-10 years in digital communications and marketing positions focused on social media
Experience supporting large clients or organizations driving innovative social media programs
Deep expertise in social media, including content formats, ad targeting, and analytics
Experience working with creative, strategy, media planning, and PR teams
Comfort working with senior-level stakeholders and clients
A passion for tracking social media and influencer trends and applying them to client challenges across industries
Knowledge of social listening programs and translating findings into actionable insights
Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, multi-disciplinary team
Resilient mindset, curiosity, and a sense of humor
Skills This is what you need to know and be able to do with confidence in this role.
Familiarity with major social platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube) and their native analytics
Experience with tools such as Google Analytics, Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Sprout Social, Sprinklr, Khoros, Hootsuite, or similar, with a desire to learn more
Strong research skills and ability to quickly learn new tools to inform briefs
Strong written skills for engaging short-form social content; experience with longer-form content is a plus
Comfort with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; able to create client-ready deliverables
Clear communicator and persuasive presenter both virtually and in person
Strategic thinking about social program development and platform use
Proven ability to translate client needs into workable plans
Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and endlessly curious

Salary Salary range: $95,000 - $125,000
