Maintenance Contract Inspector (Transportation Engineering Technician IV)
Join Maryland Department of Transportation as a Transportation Engineering Technician IV. This position is posted by the State Highway Administration (SHA) and is located in District 6 (Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties).
Nature of Work The primary responsibility is to provide technical direction and inspection work for the District 6 Maintenance Office for contracts in Allegany, Washington, and Garrett counties. The inspector will supervise a staff of subordinate Facility Maintenance Technicians (FMT) and Transportation Engineering Technicians (TET), administer employee functions, and serve as the assistant Project Engineer for all maintenance contracts.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or high‑school equivalency certificate.
Five (5) years of experience in technical engineering related work (design, traffic, construction, materials testing, engineering surveys, maintenance, or planning).
Selective Qualification Two and a half (2.5) years of the required experience must have involved maintenance and/or construction inspection.
Additional Qualifications
Associate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or surveying from an accredited community college, college, or university is considered to satisfy two years of the five‑year experience requirement.
Valid Maryland driver’s license.
International education must be evidenced by an equivalent U.S. credential evaluation.
Certifications Required During Probationary Period
ACI Concrete Field‑Testing Technician
Temporary Traffic Control Manager Certification
Line Striping Certification
Flagger Certification
Special Requirements
Available to work in all District 6 counties.
Willingness to work shift work, nights, overtime, or weekends as required.
