Responsibilities

Read, create, and modify electrical schematics according to IEC and NFPA standards.

Read, create, and modify fluid power (hydraulics and pneumatics) schematics according to IEC and NFPA standards.

Read, create, and modify P&ID schematics according to IEC and NFPA standards.

Read, create, and modify programming code in languages: Siemens Structured Control Language (SCL), Siemens Statement List, Siemens Graph 7, Siemens Function Block Diagram (FBD), Ladder Logic (Siemens, Allen Bradley, and others), Allen Bradley Structured Text, Microsoft Visual Basic, C++, C#, Java, Python, Microsoft SQL, and others.

Read, create, and modify database tables in MSSQL server.

Read, create, and modify HMI programs for Siemens, Allen Bradley, and other HMI platforms, including using WinCC Flex and Panel Builder 32.

Read, create, and modify SCADA programs for Siemens WinCC, and Inductive Automation.

Install, commission, repair and troubleshoot any brand of PLC, HMI or VFD.

Install, commission, repair and troubleshoot any industrial communications media and protocols.

Install, commission, repair and troubleshoot a wide range of industrial machinery.

Upgrade and retrofit controls that are obsolete with no direct replacements available; make all necessary modifications to existing equipment.

Possess exemplary troubleshooting skills and be able to repair any machinery from any manufacturer.

Properly use oscilloscopes, test meters, megaohmmeters, process calibrators, thermal imagers, vibration analyzers, data loggers and other test equipment.

Source all necessary materials for projects and repairs and work with the maintenance inventory clerk to acquire needed materials on time.

Train technicians and apprentices in proper methods and procedures for process instrumentation calibration.

Train technicians and apprentices on how to read and understand programming code and logic.

Train technicians and apprentices in the best practices and methods for troubleshooting components of electrical control systems.

Train technicians and apprentices on fluid power systems and how to troubleshoot and repair these systems.

Perform all duties with minimal outside support.

Ensure all work is performed and executed safely; identify and correctly use appropriate PPE for various tasks.

Be able to work remotely and travel to multiple locations with tools.

Serve as a resource to production staff across multiple facilities.

Support company efforts to develop and maintain positive Employee Relations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for training and supervising the mechatronics / controls technician apprentice(s); occasionally train and supervise seasonal interns.

Qualifications

Associate of Applied Science from an accredited college in Electronics Engineering or Computer Science with emphasis on Programming, or equivalent experience and certifications.

10+ years of direct experience in industrial automation.

Certification in programming preferred, such as Siemens or Allen Bradley certified programmer.

State‑issued electrical trades license preferred.

Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical.
