Northrop Grumman is currently looking for an experienced

Modeling & Simulation Software Engineer 4

with a strong background in

C++ . This position will be located in Northridge, CA.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will primarily assist with developing and updating our C++ based simulations of the AARGM family of missiles and integrating these missiles into a system of simulations.

The candidate must also be able to use our simulations to support live fire testing and to assist with verifying the weapon system with our simulations.

The candidate will be participating in a fundamental overhaul of much of our simulation infrastructure, and in fundamental changes to how we use our simulations within our organization.

The modeling and simulation team is a multidisciplinary team where each member may have opportunities to work in software development, systems engineering, model and algorithm development, and various types of analysis.

The group is an excellent place for engineers interested in gaining a broad understanding of a missile system.

Basic Qualifications

BS degree in software engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, systems engineering, or a related field with 8 years of experience or an MS degree in the same areas with 4 years of experience.

Previous experience and proficiency in developing medium to large C++ cross platform desktop applications.

Knowledgeable in object‑oriented design principles with experience using multiple software design patterns.

Understanding of distributed computing (Client‑Server architecture, n‑tier architecture, peer‑to‑peer architecture).

Some experience with 6‑DOF simulations or related simulations, or guidance, navigation and control algorithms for airborne platforms.

Demonstrated ability to find innovative solutions to difficult technical problems.

Sufficient background in physics to understand the basics of flight dynamics and sensors; preferably specific experience in guidance, navigation and control.

Significant experience with either SciPy Python tools or MATLAB.

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance and SAP clearable.

Preferred Qualifications

Some experience in technical leadership is strongly desired.

Understanding of compilers, linkers and OS, Windows/Linux.

Comfortable using GIT as a configuration management system.

Familiar with make files or CMAKE.

Familiar with Distributed Simulation Systems protocols such as DIS or HLA.

General mathematical background in linear algebra and differential equations.

Experience using simulations to verify weapon systems.

Experience in estimating/planning budget and schedule and tracking to that plan; specific experience with agile paradigm preferred.

Experience with SysML, preferably with CAMEO.

AJEM or other lethality modeling tools.

AFSIM.

Active Security Clearance.

Salary & Benefits Primary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00. This range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long‑Term Incentives.
