Job Description AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer (Hybrid) to be based in Houston, TX.
Responsibilities
Undertaking design and planning activities on maritime projects - container terminals, mining/bulk, oil/gas, marinas, ports and harbors, coastal defense and development schemes.
Maritime design and planning, including maritime codes/standards such as USACE, PIANC, OCIMF.
Structural design for wharves, piles, sheet piles, dolphins, across the United States.
Independently prepare engineering related calculations and develop structural technical specifications, plans, and details.
Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
Occasional short to medium term site visits may also become necessary depending on project requirements.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Valid Driver’s license required.
Professional Engineering (PE) License.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science (with structural engineering concentration).
Ten (10) years or more of related experience.
Experience in the design of marine structures including wharves, piles, sheet piles, and dolphins in seismic zones.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of computer analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, RISA 3D, STAAD.Pro, LPILE, SAFE and (or equivalent).
Knowledge in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing.
Demonstrable interest in developing a career in Ports & Marine Engineering.
Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $80000 to $130000.
