Shift Rotating Shift
Description Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, MA Per Diem. You would be responsible for performing routine and non‑routine activities involved in histologic preparations. Troubleshoot minor equipment failures, prepare reagents, solutions and control slides. Perform IHC staining. Prepare reports and ensure that quality control criteria are approved by the pathologist.
What You Will Do
Fixation, embedding, microtomy, processing, staining and IHC.
Adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies, document quality control activities.
Ensure corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met. Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
Participate in department meetings and team efforts to analyze workflow processes and the performance of audits.
Provide training and guidance to new employees, and students.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and troubleshoot minor equipment failures.
Demonstrate problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork.
Position Hours Per Diem
What You Need
Associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both) AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program within the last 5 years.
At least 1 year experience as a Histotechnician.
HT ASCP required or be eligible to take the exam within 1 year of employment.
Must have experience in the following areas: Fixation, Microtomy, Processing, Staining, IHC.
Pay Range $27.35 – $43.75 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
