Position Summary The Medical Assistant Float supports patient care delivery by working cooperatively with all team members in planning, performing, and assisting with procedures, appointments, patient relations, follow‑up care, and other tasks as requested by a physician. The Medical Assistant Float is responsible for covering both long‑ and short‑term staff vacancies at any of our thirteen (13) office locations across San Diego County, as required. The Medical Assistant Float is expected to adhere to all standards of healthcare to provide a professional, comfortable, and efficient work environment for patients and team members.
What You Will Be Doing
Provide general patient care services including, but not limited to, taking vital information, collecting specimens, completing intake registration forms, and conversing with patients to pre‑populate the medical record.
Oversee and ensure efficient turnover of patients by ensuring exam rooms are cleaned properly and fully stocked.
Maintain instruments and equipment: sterilized, disinfected, autoclaved, and follow proper equipment cleaning and storage per item specifications.
Assist with updating supply order lists, ensure supplies are up to date and fully stocked; prevent supply shortage.
Assist physicians and co‑workers with procedures; room/tray setup, specimen collection and transport, phlebotomy, administering injections, and medication preparation (reconstitution).
What You Will Bring To The Team
Completion of medical assistant program.
5+ years of medical assistant experience required.
Knowledge and experience in urology, gastroenterology, and/or radiation oncology is a plus.
Strong technical skills in Microsoft Suite, Teams, and project management reporting.
EMR system experience.
Knowledge of HIPAA laws.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
