Time Type: Full time Department: PACE Rehabilitation All Locations: 155 Addison Street Position Summary: Physical Therapy Assistants are licensed clinical staff who work with the IDT at each PACE ADHC and carry out treatment plans as designed by a physical therapist. PTAs function within the scope of practice as regulated in the state of Massachusetts. PTAs are responsible for maintaining the rehab gym, and equipment ordering. They provide direct supervision to rehabilitation aides and are required to document their findings and treatments in the EMR and communicate their findings to the Physical Therapist and the IDT. PTAs should be comfortable addressing team and family issues concerning rehabilitation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrates good background knowledge of medical information. Able to identify medical concerns from the EMR (Electric Medical Record) or from patient presentation that would limit execution of the treatment plan. Discusses and explains the results of the Physical Therapy Evaluation as documented in the EMR. Executes treatment plans as directed by the PT (Registered Physical Therapist) in the initial assessment. Performs measurement skills correctly and in appropriate depth (manual muscle testing, goniometry, balance, etc.). Recognizes and discusses the need to modify skills appropriately to take into consideration the patient’s age, goals, and cultural background. Discusses and describes with the Physical Therapist the patient’s overall status and implications for PT, including: modifications of patient goals, treatment plan reflecting total patient needs, discharge and equipment needs. Performs the treatment techniques required for patient care and identifies patient response to treatment. Qualifications and Requirements HS Diploma/GED required Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program. Licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of Massachusetts. CPR required. Must possess one year of experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant with a geriatric population. Experience with computers is a must; experience with electronic medical records (EpicCare) is a plus. Good communication skills. Able to contribute effectively in a team-directed approach to medical management of a frail elder population. Ability to carry out treatment plans as designed by the Physical Therapist. Strong organizational and time management skills with adaptability to changing needs of participants. Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm Pay:
