Job Description
The job opening is for a full-time Research Staff Member in the Western Digital Corporation emerging device fabrication group. We are looking for a scientist/engineer with a strong background in nanoscale device processing.
Responsibilities
Build nanoscale devices for exploratory projects such as superconducting qubits, non-volatile memories, novel magnetic biosensor applications, qubits, superconducting electronics, etc. Hands-on expertise in device integration and nanoscale process equipment. Hands-on experience with nanofabrication metrology equipment including SEM and AFM. Demonstrated ability to self-direct a research project. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. The device fabrication is performed in a state-of-the-art research cleanroom on our San Jose headquarters campus. You will be joining a fabrication team of 20+ engineers and technicians with nearly 500 years of combined nanofabrication experience. Qualifications
Required: Minimum of a Master’s degree in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field with 5+ years of professional experience or a Ph.D. with 2+ years of experience. Preferred: Experience in device integration (CAD/mask layout/designing process flows/running process lots). Experience in failure analysis and process debugging. Hands-on experience with cleanroom process tools is preferred. Additional Information

The salary range is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. It may be higher or lower and applies to jobs in California, Colorado, New York or remote roles that can be performed in these states. The range may be modified in the future.
If non-exempt, you are eligible for overtime pay and may be eligible for shift differential depending on the shift.
You may be eligible for bonuses under the STI Plan or SIP, and may participate in the Long-Term Incentive program (RSUs or cash equivalents) where eligible. Not all roles are eligible for LTI or RSUs; terms apply.
