Head of Recruitment | Aerospace, Defense, Space, Energy & Manufacturing | Direct Hire & Cleared Consulting | Engineers, Program Managers, Directors… A leading U.S. defense technology manufacturer is seeking a Technical Sales Manager to drive growth within its test equipment and defense systems division. This company designs and manufactures advanced, highly engineered products supporting aerospace, defense, and government programs worldwide.

About the Role

The Technical Sales Manager will take ownership of business development, customer engagement, and market strategy for a specialized product line supporting military and aerospace applications. This is a high-impact role that combines technical sales, strategic relationship management, and program-level collaboration with engineering and operations.

You’ll be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing key OEM and defense customer relationships, and representing the company at trade shows, customer visits, and industry events.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute strategic sales plans to drive revenue growth and market expansion

Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities within the defense and aerospace sectors

Maintain strong relationships with OEMs, integrators, and government customers

Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, program management, and quality teams to align customer needs with technical capabilities

Lead technical presentations, proposals, and negotiations with customers

Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies

Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings

Maintain detailed sales forecasts and CRM updates

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)

5–10+ years of technical sales or business development experience in aerospace, defense, or optical systems

Proven ability to sell complex, engineered products — ideally within a non-commodity, regulated manufacturing environment

Familiarity with DoD programs, government contracting, and OEM procurement cycles

Strong communication and negotiation skills; able to translate technical detail into customer value

Experience using CRM tools and managing full sales pipelines

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder due to ITAR compliance

Willing to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally
