Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager
Alta Planning + Design is seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our headquarters in Portland, Oregon. This position offers a competitive base pay range of $130,000 – $180,000 per year, with total compensation based on skills and experience.

Day to Day Responsibilities
Manage transportation projects from design through construction, driving the success of engineering projects and managing budgets.
Implement best practices and process improvements to enhance project delivery efficiency.
Mentor staff and contribute to internal professional development and training for the technical engineering team.
Provide leadership and technical expertise to the Engineering team while collaborating with planning, landscape, and data disciplines.
Prepare schedules, budgets, and scope of services for projects.
Balance workloads across multiple projects.
Support the regional leader in business development.
Required Qualifications
12+ years of experience as a Transportation Engineer in a consulting environment or public entity; 5+ years as Project Manager; 3+ years managing staff.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or TE (Traffic Engineer) licensure.
Experience and knowledge in active, non‑motorized transportation.
Demonstrated experience preparing Plans, Specifications, and Estimates packages for roadway projects and a detailed understanding of project management principles, methods, and techniques.
Strong initiative and ability to capitalize on opportunities to enhance Alta’s market position.
Ability to manage competing priorities, multiple simultaneous projects involving cross‑functional teams within budgetary and schedule constraints.
Willingness to travel.
Excellent professional ethics, leadership skills, accountability, and decision‑making capabilities.
Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, MS Project or equivalent.
Proficiency in civil engineering software: GEOPAK, InRoads, AutoCAD, Civil3D, OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, etc.
Proficiency in an enterprise‑wide resource planning and project management tool.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Experience managing large projects for both private and public clients.
Experience using Deltek Vision.
Active participation in industry‑relevant professional associations and committees.
