Job Summary DES seeks an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager – IT to design, configure, procure, and manage large complex data/voice systems, network connectivity, and infrastructure. The position may offer remote work within Arizona based upon department needs.

Job Duties

Process customer requests (internal ticketing system) for network infrastructure and telecommunication projects initiated/requested by all DES divisions/programs.

Schedule and attend assessment meetings, obtain and evaluate vendor quotes for data, voice, and cabling; recommend practical solutions.

Collaborate with DES Office of Facilities Management, Real‑Estate Group, vendors, and other State agencies to procure approved building/floor/area electrical and wiring schema plans for new buildings, relocations, and remodels.

Order/procure and install equipment; perform user acceptance testing of network, telephony, and voice gateways; diagnose, repair, and install low‑voltage cabling.

Define telecommunication call routing/service including Auto Attendant, IVR, Call Center functionality, and soft phones.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Telecommunications and Networking including VOIP, data applications, voice, and OSI model.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google G‑Suite.

Design, configuration, procurement and installation of telecom services.

Understanding of vendor contract terms.

Oversee and coordinate vendor work to ensure timely installations.

Communication Skills

Excellent written and oral communication.

Planning and prioritization of daily work.

Analytical problem‑solving and conceptualization of program needs.

Active listening and integration with users, staff, and management.

Organizational Abilities

Balance and prioritize multiple tasks.

Collaborate across multiple organizations.

Synthesize feedback and adjust plans.

Build strong relationships within and outside the organization.

Develop and write technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

3–5 years of telephony/network hardware installation (circuits & cabling).

3–5 years’ experience in project management/coordination.

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or equivalent.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and ≥3 years of experience in project coordination and management.

Valid Level One fingerprint clearance card (Arizona Statute 41‑1969).

Completion of the E‑Verify program.

Background and reference checks; contingent on meeting agency requirements.

Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance if required for job functions.
