Supervisor Manufacturing
supervises, plans, and directs daily manufacturing operations of assigned department to ensure continuous production and delivery of products consistent with customer requirements and established departmental, plant, and company goals. Coach and mentor staff, ensure Klein quality standards are met, and lead various safety and lean manufacturing efforts within the facility to drive best-in-class operational performance.
Job Description
Coordinate departmental activities, schedule work, assign machines or work orders, provide guidance for quality standards and processes to staff, organize deliveries to meet production schedules or other manufacturing timeliness, and ensure employee compliance with safety procedures at all times.
Maintain a safe work environment by following and administering Company and OSHA safety rules and regulations, recognizing and reporting safety hazards, conducting ergonomic assessments and interventions, ensuring a clean and organized work environment through daily management of the 6S program, and leading and/or organizing safety training with staff.
Motivate and lead staff by providing consistent performance feedback on a daily basis; enact formal disciplinary actions and counseling as required, and engage in coaching and development discussions with staff.
Work in partnership with Manufacturing Manager and HR Manager to make administrative decisions for staff, including staffing and hiring, terminations, and selection for training and development.
Conduct or organize training for team members including set-up and operation of equipment, understanding manufacturing processes, plant regulations, safety rules and hazards, and other job-related procedures and standards. JHA's should be signed off annually.
Lead daily management of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts of the facility. Work with support staff to resolve tool and machine problems, identify root causes of issues with productivity, Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE), delivery performance, defects, cost per unit, inventory turns, injuries, educational hours, 6S and lean manufacturing assessment score(s), and implement corrective solution(s).
Work in partnership with Operations team to establish Key Process Indicators, lean initiatives, project time lines, training needs assessment, and other measurable goals that ensure success for all manufacturing processes; monitor and update output reports as scheduled.
Ensure staff has adequate resources to perform work and services, maintain inventory of required manufacturing supplies and services, and complete purchase requisitions as necessary. Work with Supply Chain Management group to ensure best pricing standards are met.
Comprehend and administer all Company policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and Union CBA, and/or internal communications from management team.
Fill in for Manufacturing Manager and/or other Production Supervisor(s) in their absence(s).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
High School degree or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree from a four year accredited college or university preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years experience in related field required, preferably in a manufacturing environment, CNC experience preferred.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in order to interact effectively with and establish rapport with all levels of management and staff employees.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality relating to employee information.
Working knowledge of Lean tools (6S, Kaizen, OEE, TPM, etc.).
Knowledge of quality system (e.g. ISO, QS, TS standards).
Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations preferred and willingness to become First Responder certified.
Comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Group & email. Prior experience working with Inventory Management & Production Reporting Systems highly preferred.
Physical Demand Requirement: Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
This role has a salary range of $65,000-$97,000 per year. In addition, you’re eligible for competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Klein Tools Inc. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including, but not limited to, skills, experience, and location.
