Maintenance Specialist

Primary Function The Maintenance Specialist performs skilled maintenance, repair, adjustment and minor work of the Community Health Center, ensuring facilities are properly maintained and meet clinic standards. The position requires working in our locations in Wailuku and Lahaina (Kahana Gateway). Malama I Ke Ola offers mileage reimbursement.
Essential Duties and Functions Janitorial and maintenance services for all CCM properties. Services include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, emptying trash containers, stripping and waxing tile floors, maintaining supplies, and general detailing.
Provide assistance to the Patient Access and Facilities Director on various projects as needed.
Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and control systems and related components.
Assist Facilities Manager in planning and scheduling preventative maintenance work and recommend approaches to preventative maintenance programs.
Perform service and preventative maintenance on equipment, troubleshoot equipment problems and identify when appropriate for external service provider to make repairs or perform warranty work.
Assist with all repairs and maintenance projects requiring assistance of contractors or vendors.
Assure compliance with facility maintenance standards.
Maintain a broad working knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements related to maintenance of facility.
Respond to clinic emergencies and closures including adverse weather to ensure that all facilities are protected and remain operational.
Assist with tasks required in preparing to open facilities after a closure, systems and equipment checks and start‑up operations as assigned.
Know and understand all safety procedures of the clinic.
Assist with all repairs, refurbishing projects, and furniture/equipment moving.
Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Attend and participate in meetings and committees as necessary.
Attend additional training sessions as suggested and approved by the Facilities Manager, to improve deficiencies, enhance knowledge and skills, or maintain licensure as required.

Education High school graduate or equivalent. Two years of education or training in the facilities maintenance trades may substitute for two years of experience.
Experience Two years of semi‑skilled maintenance work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Skills and Competencies
Able to use all required equipment for maintenance and cleaning.
Able to use critical‑thinking skills to assess facilities and maintenance issues in order to troubleshoot and recommend corrective actions.
