The Director of Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company’s safety and compliance programs to meet all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. This role oversees all safety initiatives, including driver training, DOT compliance, accident prevention, and risk management. The ideal candidate will bring experience in fleet management or safety leadership experience within an asset-based trucking environment and a proven ability to lead teams, drive measurable results, and maintain operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee all aspects of company safety programs, compliance, and regulatory reporting across all company sites. Manage driver qualification files, hours-of-service compliance, vehicle inspection programs, and safety audits. Oversee and improve accident investigation and root-cause analysis processes. Develop and implement corrective actions and preventive measures to reduce incidents. Conduct and coordinate driver onboarding, safety orientation, and ongoing training programs. Maintain compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and state-level safety regulations. Partner with operations, dispatch, and maintenance teams to identify and resolve safety risks. Ensure ELD, CSA, and drug/alcohol testing compliance. Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior leadership. Lead safety meetings, promote safety culture, and coach management on best practices. Serve as the company liaison with regulatory agencies, insurance representatives, and legal counsel on safety matters. Collaborate with Operations, HR, Risk, Fleet, and other relevant departments teams to align safety initiatives with business goals. Present regular reports and data-driven insights to executive leadership on KPIs, safety metrics, claim trends, and cost control measures. Take on additional tasks as needed to support the evolving needs of the company. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration or related field (preferred). 5-8 years of progressive experience in safety or fleet management within asset-based trucking or logistics. In-depth knowledge of OSHA/DOT/FMCSA regulations and compliance systems. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization. Proven experience managing safety audits, risk assessments, and accident prevention programs. Proficient in safety management software, ELD systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. What We Offer
