Work hours
Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional evening, weekend hours and holidays. Hours may change based on business need.
In this role you will
Develops and codes programs that extract information from the Comptroller’s fiscal management systems and use the information to (1) provide reports in response to open records and ad hoc report requests; and (2) ensure compliance with state law and agency fiscal policies. Performs system support of USAS including Central Profile Action Requests (CPARs) and Super Security Delete (SSD) request and assists with year-end close activities such as GL Close, file fixes and security reviews. Analyzes system data to identify and correct problems and assists agencies and business SMEs with problem resolution. Utilize SQL tools to analyze and research data issues. Leads and participates in special projects as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Experience: Three years of experience with the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS). Experience using DB2’s Structured Query Language (SQL). Experience researching, analyzing and resolving variances and out of balance conditions with governmental accounting systems. Experience documenting and updating procedures. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, auditing, business management, finance, computer science, computer information systems, or management information systems or a related field. Preferred Experience: Experience supporting Texas statewide fiscal systems (CAPPS, HRIS, SPRS, SPA, TINS, and USAS); experience with a relational database (DB2); experience using report generators and tools such as QMF, SYNCSORT, SAS, EASYTRIEVE; experience using SAP Business Objects/BI tools; experience using Power BI; experience with programming languages including Python, Java, etc.; functional knowledge of mainframe programming (JCL) and creating/reading/updating/deleting mainframe datasets; functional knowledge of using SAS to manage data and create reports; functional knowledge of generating reports using mainframe tools and IBM OS mainframe environments (TSO, batch processing, job control procedures, import/export of data). Prior experience in developing ad hoc reports using PC-based resources (Excel, Access, Business Objects) and working with flat files, CSV and formatted mainframe files.
Substitutions
One (1) additional year of experience performing accounting functions in a Comptroller fiscal system (HRIS, SPRS, SPA, TINS, USAS) may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).
