NURSE EXTERN II, FMFH - 3RD FLOOR MODIFIED CARE UNIT
Location: Menomonee Falls, WI – Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital. This position is onsite and part‑time (FTE: 0.001). Shift: Shift 4.
Job Summary Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse Extern provides routine care and assists patients with activities of daily living. The role reports to the Patient Care Director of the assigned unit and to the RN on duty each shift. Other duties are assigned as needed.
Experience A minimum of two acute care medical‑surgical clinical rotations (or one medical‑surgical rotation and one other pertinent clinical rotation) from an accredited nursing school is required. At least one rotation should include medication administration. Experience of six months or more as a nursing assistant is preferred.
Education Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing, or a graduate of an accredited school and awaiting NCLEX retake.
Special Skills
Ability to read, write, understand simple arithmetic, and follow directions related to basic patient care.
Interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, visitors, and physicians in a courteous manner.
Ability to compare numbers and maintain attention to detail during basic patient care tasks, ensuring 80 % work time for essential functions and 20 % for lifting/positioning patients.
Licensure
State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification preferred; otherwise documentation from an accredited school (Basic Nursing Course) required.
AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) or equivalent required within 90 days of hire.
