The CSCP organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as plan, source, make, deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), sustainability, and decommissioning of datacenter assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is supported by more than 300 datacenters around the world that enable services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries.
The Cloud Sourcing, Security and Sustainability (CS3) organization within CSCP manages sourcing, strategy, and suppliers to provide cost, flexibility, and supply advantages that enable our org to become a world‑class supply chain. Well‑defined and executed sourcing and supply chain management ensures reliable, on‑time performance and optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. Responsibilities Supply chain design
Understand business requirements from cross‑functional teams.
Conduct analysis on various options to manage the different parts of the supply chain (components flow, manufacturing, fulfillment, return).
Provide recommendations on optimal supply chain setup and drive syndication with respective stakeholders.
Sourcing management
Onboard supplier to internal tools/systems as required.
Collaborate with cross‑functional leadership including product design, quality, and business teams to determine sourcing/business requirements.
Conduct RFQ/RFP activities and facilitate evaluation across cross‑functional teams to select the right supplier.
Negotiate for advantaged cost and ensure continuity of supply with supplier.
Manage contracting activities with Legal and ensure contract reflects Microsoft’s cross‑functional engagements/requirements.
Serve as point of escalation to supplier on quality, operational, and cost issues.
Supplier performance
Conduct business reviews to communicate and track supplier performance vs. targets.
Ensure supplier compliance with Microsoft’s requirements (e.g., social responsibility, security).
Required qualifications
Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales‑related roles.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales‑related roles.
Equivalent experience.
4+ years of experience with IT/Cloud/hardware supply chain.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of experience in Procurement, Supply chain, Operations.
3+ years working experience in sourcing and supplier management.
Other Requirements Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Compensation Sourcing Engineering IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year. The range for select locations in the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area is USD $158,400 – $258,000 per year.
