Summary We are seeking a skilled Materials Engineer for a temporary assignment to support ongoing projects in materials science and engineering. This contingent role is ideal for an independent contractor or temporary worker and is not a full-time employment opportunity. The successful candidate will work closely with cross‑functional teams to drive innovation and uphold the highest standards in the development and application of materials for optical components.
Responsibilities
Lead research and development efforts in materials and interfaces, with a focus on innovative solutions for inkjet printing of ophthalmic lenses.
Analyze, test, and characterize materials to ensure alignment with project specifications and quality standards.
Collaborate with engineering, product, and manufacturing teams to facilitate the integration of new materials into existing processes.
Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree or degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in materials research, development, and testing.
Able to work in a chemical laboratory or cleanroom environment and operate tools for conducting experiments and collecting metrology data.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with polymer material and formulation development for optical coatings.
Experience with 3D printing.
Experience with material and optical characterization tools.
Education / Experience
Master’s degree or degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in materials research, development, and testing.
PhD preferred.
