Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Surgical Oncology – Florida – Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center
Join Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, located in beautiful Northeast Florida, to support our dynamic Surgical Oncology team as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP). With a premier cancer center offering state-of-the-art oncology care, we provide compassionate, patient-centered services.
Position Overview We seek an APP to provide comprehensive care in surgical oncology, including inpatient and outpatient services, first assistance in the operating room, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
Provide care for patients with malignant and complex gastrointestinal, soft-tissue, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, stomach, melanoma, and sarcoma conditions.
Act as first assistant in robotic, laparoscopic, and open operating room cases.
Rounding on patients in the acute post‑operative phase admitted for surgical oncology and colorectal surgery.
Manage post‑operative wound care and pain management.
Collaborate timely with consulting physicians and coordinate discharges.
Evaluate new consultation requests.
Provide outpatient evaluations and perform clinic procedures with staff physicians and multidisciplinary team.
Maintain inpatient and outpatient documentation in a timely fashion.
Work Monday – Friday hours with shared night and weekend call responsibilities (home call during the week, weekend call for inpatient rounding and OR coverage).
Qualifications
Master’s degree (Nursing or Physician Assistant) required.
Preferred: Master’s degree from an accredited program.
1–2 years of experience as a first assist or RNFA preferred.
Licensing and Certification
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current Florida licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA).
National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
