TITLE: Controller REPORTS TO: VP, Finance & Planning – CFO FLSA STATUS: Exempt GRADE LEVEL: G11 JOB CODE: G3001 JOB FAMILY: Officers & Managers General Summary

Responsible for all Corporate Accounting control and reporting, corporate asset management, tax compliance. Supervision and direction of Corporate Accounting Department, cash management, cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, year-end external audit, semi-annual budget, forecasting and month end closing. Essential Responsibilities

Direct, organize and motivate Accounting Department (includes Cost Accounting, Accounts Payable, Sales Reporting, Accounts Receivable, Collections, Cash Management, General Ledger, Financial Reporting, Property Management, and Taxes). Duties include training and interacting extensively with co-workers, reviewing work, supervising management accounting activities, hiring, salary and performance appraisal, distribution of work and preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts. Direct month-end closing process, including maintaining the scheduled timetables, directing all Accounting departments. Maintain closing schedule and timeline for Corporate reporting and maintaining accurate data. Analyze financial results of the Company in order to maintain clear and accurate books and records including supporting schedules. Interprets GAAP and IFRS; and chooses appropriate accounting methods to use. Analyze budget to actual variances with recommendations for corrective action. Communicate financial aspects of the Company to top management and external sources such as bankers, creditors, vendors, auditors, etc., as required. Performs the duties of Assistant Treasurer while maintaining the duties and responsibilities of the Officer title including signing tax returns and agreements. Maintain control of money management activities including directing and analyzing cash inflows and outflows, cash flow forecasting, and along with Treasurer, relations with bankers and lenders and obtaining A/R and inventory financing. Objective is to stretch and increase cash flow at the cheapest rate and to alert top management of cash situation, as needed. Direct compliance with state, sales, property, excise, Canadian, informational census and other governmental tax returns. Direct audits of sales (multistate), income and property tax, as well as all other governmental agencies. Direct sales tax system maintenance, interdepartmental sales tax issues and tax planning. Direct in conjunction with top management the semi-annual budget planning activities including the sales, operating costs and capital plans. In addition, administers financial forecasts and forecasting activities prepared for Company. Assist with year-end external audit with public accounting firm from start to finish. Direct finance staff to maintain external and internal timetables, schedule preparation and special request analysis. Provide written and verbal explanations of financial variances, internal controls, and segregation of duties. Prepares special accounting analysis and reports for the Company to help management evaluate or communicate results. Represent Accounting Department in various committees and groups, as required. Job Specifications

Financial Transactions - Requires ability to be precise and thorough. All activities of the Company must be recorded in the General Ledger correctly and timely. Careful review is necessary to prevent the Company's financial results from being distorted. Top management provides concurrence in outcome. Deadlines - Constant deadlines are faced. Critical to send financial information to management and Corporate in a timely manner. Cash Management - Difficulties include cyclical business, restricted and finite borrowing capability, slow-paying customers, and historically loose spending controls. Resolved by maintaining favorable relations with vendors, cash flow forecasting and close monitoring of cash movement between accounts. Errors can result in upset vendors and others. Assistance from Corporate and top management. Sales Interaction - It is critical to meet the needs of our customers in this market-driven Company. Sales reporting and Salesmen Commissions are closely scrutinized and must be accurate and timely. People Management -Working with so many different people, the challenge is getting everyone to work together as a team to achieve a common goal. Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor of Science or Accounting degree with emphasis in Accounting, Finance or Business. Seven years or more of financial experience in a public and/or private accounting environment. Five years management experience preferred. Computer literate, knowledge of Microsoft software such as Word, Excel etc. Ability to conduct business and deal effectively with the Operations, R&D, Sales, and Human Resources Departments as well as Executive Management. Possess a knowledge of current accounting principles and practices, as well as an ability to communicate ideas orally and written to various interested parties. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
