Exciting opportunity for an energetic sales leader in the Denver market who can represent a Hyatt branded hotel that offers over 30,000 square feet of meeting space, including an exquisite ballroom, amphitheater and flexible conference rooms.
Job Summary The
Catering Sales Manager
will lead efforts to solicit, book, plan, and coordinate meetings and functions while maximizing banquet space to meet and exceed revenue goals. The role serves as a liaison between the client and hotel departments, ensuring exceptional service delivery. The position reports directly to the Director of Catering Sales and requires strong leadership to represent Hyatt standards.
Essential Job Functions The following describes primary responsibilities.
Business Results
Proactively solicit, negotiate, and book high‑profile and complex events, maximizing banquet space and exceeding catering revenue targets.
Collaborate with clients to plan and detail meetings/functions, including event logistics, menu planning, and décor.
Prepare contracts, proposals, and supporting documents while coordinating efforts with internal teams to ensure seamless execution.
Identify and convert leads, employing creative selling techniques to secure business.
Proactively identify, qualify, and solicit new catering business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.
Understand competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, and sell against them.
Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close business and negotiate contracts.
Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers, including sales calls, prospecting/solicitation calls, entertainment, bridal shows, etc.
Conduct site inspections.
Understand time strategy developed by Revenue Management Team.
Understand and achieve team and individual goals.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Guest Satisfaction
Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and build long‑term mutually beneficial relationships to support future revenue growth.
Coordinate and communicate verbally and in writing with customers regarding event details; follow up post‑event.
Display leadership in guest hospitality and ensure consistent, high‑level service throughout all phases of hotel events.
Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels; respond and handle guest problems and complaints.
Review Guest Service Results with leaders; participate in development and implementation of corrective action plans.
Emphasize guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focus on continuous improvement.
Leadership
Take ownership of challenging situations to achieve results.
Collaborate across departments to create a cohesive approach to sales and service delivery.
Champion a culture of excellence and innovation within the department.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Minimum 1 year of experience in catering sales, event planning, or a related field, preferably within a hotel environment.
Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
Knowledge of the hotel, Hyatt brand policies, and procedures.
Advanced understanding of catering and banquet operations, food and beverage trends, and event logistics.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems (Envision or similar).
Exceptional sales, negotiation, and closing skills.
Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills under pressure.
Effective communication and ability to deliver compelling presentations.
Ability to build and maintain lasting client relationships.
Systems knowledge of Envision/Social Tables or similar.
