Deputy Attorney General, Office of the Attorney General, Idaho Department of Water Resources
Location: Boise, Idaho. Salary depends on experience, starting at $90,000. Start date will be determined upon hire.
Primary Duties The Office of the Attorney General, Energy & Natural Resources Division is seeking a Deputy Attorney General (DAG) to provide legal counsel to the Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR) and Idaho Water Resources Board (Board).
The DAG will work closely with IDWR and Board staff to provide legal advice and representation in areas including water law, administrative law, statutory interpretation, rulemaking, contracts and regulatory enforcement. The position may involve appearances in district court and the Idaho Supreme Court.
Essential Functions
Appear before administrative bodies, state and federal district courts and courts of appeals, including the Idaho Supreme Court.
Engage with third parties and their counsel, both in-person and virtually.
Draft clear and accurate analysis of complex facts based upon thorough legal research.
Utilize personal computer technology for research and drafting memoranda to address client needs.
Respond to client and supervising attorney requests in a timely manner.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Admission to the Idaho State Bar or eligibility for reciprocity.
At least two years of relevant legal and technical work experience or coursework.
Exceptional public speaking, computer, writing, editing, telephone, and client management skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
Strong computer skills and effective use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
