Summary A store manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of a store, ensuring smooth and effective performance. The store manager directs all activities required to achieve or exceed goals, including sales and profit objectives, customer service, human resources, payroll and operating expenses, loss prevention, and merchandise presentation.
Responsibilities
Achieve excellent scores on secret shopper reports.
Promote merchandise and demonstrate product knowledge to customers and assist them with any requests.
Share vision and plans to execute store strategy in alignment with corporate and district initiatives.
Achieve store financial objectives in sales, production increase, sales per square foot, expense control, units per transaction, payroll percent and shrinkage.
Educate the store team on reports, analyze business trends and inventory opportunities.
Analyze business reports consistently and develop strategies to maximize financial performance.
Prioritize workflow through successful planning and time management.
Maintain appropriate staffing levels based on business trends and payroll guidelines.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and operations.
Maintain physical appearance and cleanliness of the store.
Generate solutions to recognized problems.
Maintain compliance of all company assigned training.
Protect company assets (inventory, cash, etc.).
Communicate all loss prevention occurrences to the District Manager, Market Manager and Loss Prevention Manager.
Practice excellent customer service at all times to prevent possible theft.
Review and audit store processes, transactions and paperwork to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Supervise, lead, and motivate staff members.
Ensure execution of all pricing strategies to achieve gross margin.
Ensure the store is merchandised according to visual guidelines, hold teams accountable to visual standards.
Communicate store inventory opportunities to District/Market Manager.
Participate in timely planning and execution of store planograms.
Ensure store team can understand company brand position.
Ensure replenishment of merchandise on the selling floor as needed.
Recruit, select, hire and develop diverse talent for the store.
Fills open positions with qualified candidates within 30 days and maintain talent pool.
Assess, develop, educate, mentor and provide timely feedback and coaching.
Hold store team accountable for achieving results.
Manage conflict and empower team in decision making.
Maintain confidentiality and meet own commitments.
Ensure compliance with labor laws.
Store Manager Position Requirements
Proven ability to network and maintain talent pool for recruitment; select, develop team, bench strength, coach and counsel.
Customer Service: Role model during all store visits, ensure customers remain top priority, respond empathically.
Organization: Organize, delegate, prioritize, meet deadlines, hold team accountable and follow up on all activities.
Leadership: Challenge and motivate management and store teams in mutual respect supporting core values.
Merchandising: Knowledge of visual presentation standards, implement and interpret planograms.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Business Analysis: Analyze trends and function within payroll, shortage and controllable expenses to maximize profitability.
