Green Umbrella Recruitment
The Site Manager is responsible for overseeing all construction site activities from mobilization to commissioning and handover of utility-scale solar farm projects. This includes the installation of photovoltaic (PV) modules, mounting structures, inverters, transformers, and all auxiliary civil and electrical works such as foundations, access roads, cable trench substations, and grid connection. The Site Manager manages multiple subcontractors and vendors simultaneously, ensures full compliance with QA/QC, HSE, and technical specifications, and coordinates with the EPC contractor when applicable. He or she is the primary authority on site, responsible for delivering the project safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day site operations, acting as the single point of accountability for all construction activities.
Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants, ensuring seamless coordination and alignment with project objectives.
Plan and allocate resources (labor, equipment, materials) with the project team to meet schedule and budget.
Supervise and guide engineers, supervisors, and technicians; conduct toolbox talks and coordination meetings.
Support preparation of as-built drawings, redline markups, and civil completion dossiers for handover to client.
Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and senior management, providing regular updates and progress reports.
Oversee the installation of PV modules, mounting structures (fixed or tracking systems), inverters, transformers, and switchgear.
Supervise and manage auxiliary works, including foundations, excavation, leveling, grading, backfilling, compaction, inverter station platforms, access and internal roads, drainage, electrical cabling, substations, and grid connection.
Perform precise verification of cut and fill quantities using survey data, digital terrain models, and as-built topographic reports.
Inspect and monitor construction of reinforced concrete foundations, pile foundations, pile caps, inverter stations, control buildings, and structural supports.
Oversee the installation and testing of driven or bored piles, verifying compliance with design depth, alignment, and bearing capacity requirements.
Monitor construction of concrete aprons, curbs, pavements, drainage systems, and peripheral structures such as boundary walls, foundations for trackers, and transformer plinths.
Ensure compliance with OEM procedures, project specifications, and international solar construction standards.
Oversee pre‑commissioning, testing, and energization of the solar plant in coordination with electrical and commissioning teams.
Manage the documentation and approval process for inspection requests, test reports, and commissioning records.
Manage multiple subcontractors across civil, electrical, and mechanical scopes simultaneously.
Conduct subcontractor prequalification and performance evaluations; monitor KPIs (progress, quality, HSE compliance).
Review and certify subcontractor progress reports, claims, and invoices.
Support contract administration by addressing variations, scope clarifications, and dispute resolution on site.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
8–10 years of experience in construction/energy projects, with at least 5 years in utility‑scale solar farm projects.
Proven record as a Site Manager overseeing installation, commissioning, and civil/electrical balance of plant works.
Strong background in subcontractor management, QA/QC, and HSE for solar projects.
Comprehensive knowledge of foundation engineering, soil mechanics, and pile design principles.
Strong understanding of excavation, grading, and earthwork calculations.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and surveying tools (Total Station, GPS) for verification and reporting.
Ability to review and interpret civil, structural, and geotechnical drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of roadwork, drainage, and stormwater management systems.
