Our Forecasting Unit is currently recruiting for a process-oriented Revenue Forecasting Analyst with the ability to pivot quickly as priorities change. The Department of Licensing is one of the most public facing state agencies and the second largest revenue generating agency in Washington State. We regularly interact with over 6 million Washingtonians and collect nearly $3.3 billion in taxes and fees annually. As a Revenue Forecasting Analyst, conduct research into major economic trends, transportation funding mechanisms, agency-wide revenue collections and related transactions critical to statewide transportation and public safety agencies/programs. Prepare and monitor revenue forecasts for assigned revenue streams; design and implement econometric and simulation models; stay up to date with major economic and demographic trends. Provide revenue impact analysis of legislation and policy initiatives on DOL’s revenue collections for transportation and public safety programs. Work independently; contribute to the credibility of DOL’s revenue forecasts relied on by the Office of Financial Management (OFM), legislative staff, and other agencies for financial planning. Design, implement, and oversee data reporting and process improvement efforts related to forecasting data needs. Respond to legislative and executive management inquiries. What you will bring: Eight (8) years of professional experience in business economics, public finance, public administration, forecasting, economic analysis, tax administration, auditing, collection, or program/policy analysis. One (1) year of professional or educational data analysis experience using math and/or statistics. One (1) year of professional or educational experience in problem solving using research skills. Two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Excel to include macros, linked files, and pivot tables; ability to synthesize complex information into concise charts and/or fact sheets. Two (2) years in the following programs: Outlook (compose/respond to email, use calendars/meeting requests) and Word (create/edit/format documents, use lists, spell check). Ability to understand and follow agency values of respect, diversity, equity, and inclusion through behaviors and decisions. Relevant education may substitute year for year for experience. Experience may be obtained concurrently. What may help set you apart
A Master’s degree in economics, business, public finance, public administration or related field. Advanced training in econometrics and time series modeling techniques. Ability to pull record-level data using SAS, SQL, or other data analysis tools. Experience and/or understanding of the legislative session process and analyzing laws that impact DOL. Experience with the state’s financial and accounting reporting systems. Additional Conditions of Employment
