Our Information Services Division (ISD) is recruiting for an experienced IT Application Developer for our DRIVES Production Support Team!

We are one of the most public‑facing state agencies and the second largest revenue‑generating agency in Washington State.

Role Summary Are you a Journey level Application Developer that wants to grow and support an amazing team while making a difference in Washington state? If so, read on!

As a Journey IT Application Development Specialist, your role will be essential in providing support for our DRIVES development unit.

Your knowledge in web services, interface processes, database management, and application development techniques will be fully utilized.

Understanding of C#, VB.Net, .NET Frameworks, SQL, HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, and related libraries will be invaluable in the delivery of solutions using these technologies.

You will work both independently and collaboratively, contributing to the analysis, design, consultation, development, quality assurance, and implementation on important features of the system.

In addition to utilizing these skills to directly resolve issues, you will also be relied upon to support the larger unit.

Being accountable to meet performance expectations and complete tasks while distanced from your team will ensure success in your role.

Responsibilities

Application development and support through analysis, research, design, and troubleshooting via appropriate tools and technologies.

Ensure architectural principles are met for application design and coordinate planning with supervisors and solution architects.

Plan and execute work effort assessments for projects and deliverables.

Conduct research and analysis, and utilize troubleshooting skills to resolve problems.

Direct testing and quality assurance.

Collaborate with other IS units to determine the overall design, structure, interface, and performance of solutions.

Act as a technical advisor to project manager, test manager, and business stakeholders.

What You Will Bring

Six (6) years of professional experience analyzing, designing, or developing computer system applications or databases.

An Associate’s Degree (or higher) in an information technology or related program, or a completion of an accredited vocational training program.

The ability to understand and follow agency values of respect, trust, diversity, equity, and inclusion through behaviors and decisions.

Experience may be obtained concurrently.

Education to Experience Equivalency

Bachelor’s degree = 2 years of experience

Master’s degree = 3 years of experience

What May Set You Apart

Eight (8) or more years of experience as a Software Developer/Engineer.

One (1) year of software development experience with FAST Enterprises GENTAX products.

Additional Requirements of Employment

Prior to a new hire, a pre‑employment screening, including criminal record history, will be conducted.

This position, while hybrid, will require you to work in person at our Olympia area offices regularly and as business needs require.
