Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley’s mission statement. Engage customers with friendly, professional service.
Know all bank products and services; educate and demonstrate them to customers, cross‑selling as appropriate.
Present a confident, professional demeanor to establish trust and gather customer knowledge. Analyze needs and recommend appropriate products and services.
Meet with customers to analyze financial needs and maximize sales opportunities. Offer all bank products and assist with service needs, open new accounts (checking, savings, CDs, IRAs), discuss/sell loan products, and promote online / mobile banking.
Meet customer expectations and achieve service quality standards. Participate in the sales referral process and assist management in coaching and mentoring branch staff.
Perform all customer transactions efficiently using technology. Maintain and balance a cash box; use teller scanning, cash recycling, and dispensing machines. Support customers in using Coin Machines.
Act as Vault Teller ensuring adequate branch cash for daily transactions.
Assist in community events (e.g., Habitat for Humanity) and support CRA initiatives.
Report significant matters, issues, and unusual customer activity to Manager; maintain knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements.
Maintain knowledge and compliance with the bank’s Code of Conduct and all policies and procedures.
Required Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Excellent interpersonal customer‑service skills with attentiveness, information retention, tact, and diplomacy.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Ability to make sound, on‑the‑spot decisions regarding customer transactions, balancing customer satisfaction with risk.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions given in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled form.
Deep understanding of Retail Banking and strong customer‑service skills.
Detail‑oriented, strong organizational skills, and high accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient computer skills.
Required Experience
High school diploma or GED and minimum 1 year of branch banking experience; knowledge of branch operations or completion of a Valley Retail training program.
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting, business, finance, economics or a related field preferred.
Preferred Experience
FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions) experience.
