Highway Maintenance Specialist – Park Avenue (Night Shift) – CDL Required

$65,400 (base $53,400 + $12,000 housing stipend)
Schedule:
Monday – Thursday, 8:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Description of the Job As a Highway Maintenance Specialist, you will perform a wide range of roadway maintenance and repair tasks to keep Colorado’s highways safe and operable. Your daily duties will vary based on project needs and weather conditions. You will work in a team environment with a lead specialist and other specialists.
What You Will Do
Plow snow and clear winter debris.
Operate heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks, loaders, tractor mowers, and bulldozers.
Mow grass and remove weeds.
Remove and dispose of debris from roadways, culverts, and tunnels.
Shovel gravel, sand, concrete, and asphalt.
Dig ditches and apply corrective gravel overlays.
Install, repair, and maintain guardrails, highway markers, warning signs, feature signs, stability tiebacks, and lighting fixtures.
Fill potholes, crack sealing, and其他 pavement repair.
Set out traffic control signs and cones.
Remove graffiti from highway property.
Create pavement markings and striping.
Operate traffic safety equipment to stop or slow traffic during emergencies.
Perform routine and minor equipment maintenance.
Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Respond to emergencies and be on call on a rotating basis.

Your Work Environment
Exposure to loud noise, fumes, gases, dust, and chemicals.

Use of ladders and scissor lifts up to 20 ft.
Drive CDOT vehicles.
Respond to emergencies outside regular hours, including weekends and holidays.
Operate in extreme temperatures, variable weather, and at elevations up to 12,000 ft.
Minimum Qualifications
At least two (2) years of physical labor or heavy‑equipment operation experience.
Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B (no restriction on air brakes) and must be eligible to drive in Colorado.
Pass required pre‑employment screening and drug test as applicable.
Be willing to respond to emergencies and work overtime.
Maintain a valid CDL within 30 days of relocation if you live outside Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong commitment to safety and continuous learning.
Experienced with single and tandem axle dump trucks, loaders, bulldozers, and backhoes.
Proficient with hand tools and basic computer skills.
Team‑oriented, excellent communication, and customer‑service skills.
Adaptability to changing conditions and priorities.
Conditions of Employment
On‑call work (rotating basis) and shift work.
Essential Services Designation – must provide uninterrupted essential service.
Must reside within 30 minutes of the work site or be able to respond promptly.
Complete required training: two weeks maintenance training for new hires; one week annual training for veterans.
Possibility to obtain hazardous‑materials endorsement within 6 months to 1 year.
