Highway Maintenance Specialist (Night Shift) – CDL Required
Join the State of Colorado as a Highway Maintenance Specialist on the Park Avenue Night Shift. This full‑time position requires a Colorado Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License and offers a competitive salary, benefits, and opportunities for professional growth. Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $53,400 per year (biweekly pay $2,053.85).
Housing stipend: $1,000 per month.
Overtime available during weather emergencies (rate $38.50/hour).

Schedule & On‑Call Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 8:00 PM – 6:30 AM. On‑call work on a rotating basis and after‑hours emergencies are expected.
What You Will Do
Plow snow.
Operate heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks, loaders, tractor‑mowers, etc.
Mow grass and weeds.
Remove debris from roadways, culverts, tunnels, and other infrastructure.
Shovel gravel, sand, concrete, and asphalt.
Dig ditches.
Install and repair guardrails, highway markers, signs, warning signs, and lighting.
Fill potholes and roadway cracks.
Set out signs and cones for traffic control.
Remove and cover graffiti.
Install pavement markings and striping.
Stop or slow traffic in emergency situations.
Maintain equipment and perform minor repairs.
Follow safety guidance and wear proper protective gear.

Work Environment

Use of ladders, scissor lifts, and heavy equipment.
Drive CDOT vehicles and respond to emergencies, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Work in extreme temperatures, variable weather, and high elevations up to 12,000 ft.
Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
At least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
Validity of a Colorado Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with no restriction on air brakes.
Pass a pre‑employment screening, including background checks, drug test, and DOT physical.
Willingness to be on‑call and work overtime.
Ability to provide a telephone number for emergency contact.
Must live within thirty (30) minutes driving time of workplace or be willing to relocate.
Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to safety and customer service.
Desire to learn and solve problems.
Experience operating dump trucks, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, and other heavy equipment.
Proficiency with hand tools and basic computer skills.
State service experience related to duties.
