System Administrator works under the direction of a Principal Network Systems Administrator (PNSA) Supervisor who manages and oversees all aspects of work for the Enterprise Network. System Administrator duties include ensuring networks align with business goals, problem solving, and thinking critically. The System Administrator is responsible for overseeing an organization’s computer systems or database networks to ensure proper maintenance and security. The role applies IT expertise to the employer’s computer systems and interacts with other network professionals and IT staff to update cyber security measures, install hardware or software, and troubleshoot problems. The System Administrator also works with company employees to identify network or computer system needs, oversees the installation of new hardware or software, and uses employee feedback to isolate issues. Responsibilities include maintaining computer networks and systems including software, mainframes, VPNs, routers and other hardware; installing and configuring network equipment; updating virus protection software; monitoring computer systems to improve network performance; communicating networking issues to employees and management (including training new users); and fixing software and hardware configuration issues for users on-demand or from inspection of the systems. The System Administrator may also be responsible for creating instruction manuals for employees to navigate company networks. Skills Required
The following technology skill sets are required to perform in this classification: Cisco ATA, Cisco ACI, Cisco APIC, Cisco Prime, Cisco VoIP Call Manager, CACTI, eCloud, Elastic Search, ITM, Open NMS, nGenius, McAfee; MVISION, NetScout, SCOM; UTR; StruxureWare, SecureWorks WAF (WAN App FW) toolset, Wireshark, & Web CTRL. Skills Preferred
Cisco core competencies required: Routing and Switching Network essentials WAN technologies Ethernet & Protocols Experience Required
This classification must have a minimum of five (5) years of broad knowledge of networking services and common networking protocols, have computer proficiency and understanding of various types of hardware, and increasingly responsible information technology skills to include Cisco competencies; must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience within the last four (4) in the capacity of a Network Systems Administrator or similar role; must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience within the last four (4) years in a security monitoring role. Education Required
This classification requires the possession of a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or Engineering field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Additional Information
