Electrical Design Engineer – Siemens Industry, Inc. Location: 7000 Siemens Drive, Wendell, NC 27591

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (40 Hours/Week)

Summary of Duties Customize and adapt standard medium voltage metal-enclosed switchgear to specific customer requirements. Review drawings with customers, provide instructions to electrical and mechanical drafters, and follow up on aftermarket requests to convert them into sales opportunities.

Analyze customers’ technical specifications, one-line diagrams, and schematic diagrams regarding the application of Siemens medium voltage (MV) switchgear products, along with associated protection and control systems. Design appropriate product solutions to meet customers’ expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Work independently to create all documents for customer approval and manufacturing of medium voltage switchgears. Take full ownership of the overall deliverables and provide factory support during the manufacture of projects to ensure that the final deliverable is true to the design.

Serve as the subject matter expert, sharing knowledge of the product and process to help others on the team achieve their goals. Collaborate in efforts to improve team processes and tools, driving up overall team efficiency.

Utilize the NXTools+ configurator software to prepare specifications, layout drawings, and bill of materials with a high degree of accuracy. Use various electrical CAD software packages to complete project work and drive efficiency with process improvements. Work with bill of material in an ERP system (SAP).

Approximately 10% domestic travel required. Hybrid work permitted.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum two (2) years of experience in electrical drafting design or an acceptable alternate occupation; one (1) year of experience with protection and control systems and electrical schematics.

Demonstrated technical knowledge of MV switchgear and protection/control systems, with familiarity of ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards.

Experience producing protection and control schematics using electrical CAD software.

Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems for bill of material management.

Experience using NXTools+ configurator to prepare specifications, layout drawings, and bill of materials.

Strong analytical skills to evaluate customer specifications and propose effective solutions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Domestic travel up to 10% and hybrid work arrangement.
