This position reports directly to the Senior vCISO. About the Role
This position falls under Sawdey MSD. Sawdey MSD is a full-service Managed Service Provider (MSP)/Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) providing IT and cybersecurity services to various clients. The Technical Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, execution, and implementation of client projects and external IT solutions. Requires Tier 2 knowledge with minimal supervision, focusing on project implementation, maintaining design and integrity of client IT systems, and long-term client support. This role also manages and resolves client support escalations and emphasizes outstanding customer service, problem solving, availability and reliability of systems, effective communication, and team contribution. Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To: Work directly with client POCs and client Senior Management on project planning, execution, and implementation. Develop implementation and migration plans meeting project goals and security requirements. Serve as the client POC and work independently to complete project tasks efficiently and promptly. Proactively communicate project progress, impending changes, and outages. Handle client support ticket escalations from Tier 0-2 service technicians. Perform remote troubleshooting with diagnostic techniques and tools. Provide detailed, professional notes within all support ticket escalations. Create and distribute technical documentation outlining system architecture and implementation. Execute Exchange migrations (e.g., hybrid, Office 365 tenant-to-tenant, hosted-to-cloud). Execute SharePoint migrations (on-premises-to-cloud, Office 365 tenant-to-tenant). Configure, troubleshoot, and support Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive for Business, Intune, Entra AD, and other relevant apps. Manage and deploy Intune to meet policy and compliance goals. Manage and deploy Windows Servers and associated applications; manage and deploy VMWare or Hyper-V environments. Deliver weekly project updates to the Sr. vCISO/manager. Stay current on new industry technologies related to the position. Provide system administrator support relating to Microsoft core business applications and operating systems. Assist end-users with questions and problems via the ConnectWise Manage service desk. Communicate and collaborate professionally with corporate employees, clients, and colleagues. May meet with current or prospective clients to evaluate potential project work. May assist with reactive, proactive, and IMAC service tickets; perform manual patching and vulnerability remediation. Understand and adhere to Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements and policies. Mentor fellow Sawdey MSD team members; participate in an on-call rotation; perform other duties as assigned. Experience Requirements
Five (5+) years of IT-related experience. Three (3+) years of experience performing server and 365 migrations. Technical Skills
Microsoft 365; Azure IaaS, PaaS, SaaS; Exchange Online; SharePoint; OneDrive; Teams; Microsoft Defender; Windows Server; VMWare. Education
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field preferred. Certifications
One or more certifications are desired but not required: CCSP; MCSE; CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+; MTA; MCSA; Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate; Azure Security Engineer Associate; Microsoft 365 Security Administrator Associate; Microsoft 365 Messaging Administrator Associate; Teams Administrator Associate; Enterprise Administrator Expert. Other Skills & Abilities
Effective communication with customers and fulfillment of contract duties. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Professional communication with all stakeholders. Accurate daily time entry for tasks. Ability to articulate technical information to non-technical audiences. Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal direction. Attention to detail; willingness to participate in on-call rotation. Ability to use a personal smartphone for on-call tasks; note: calls may be routed via Microsoft Teams extension. Background & Citizenship
