Staff Psychologist - Recruitment/Relocation Incentive - EDRP Approved This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval and incentive details (award amount and eligibility period) are determined after complete review of the EDRP application. Pay Base pay range: $99,779.00/yr - $184,879.00/yr Location

Organizational Location: Community Living Center - Behavioral Health Team - Mental Health Service - VA North Texas Health Care System - Dallas, TX

Responsibilities

Serve as a staff psychologist on a multidisciplinary inpatient medical rehabilitation, palliative care, and hospice team.

Conduct a variety of brief cognitive/psychological assessments and brief problem-focused treatment interventions; address patient, family, caregiver, and medical provider needs.

Provide timely clinical charting and documentation as required by the Medical Center or health care system.

Participate in crisis management as needed and provide services to other areas of the hospital as assigned by Service Leadership.

Deliver evidence-based interventions (individual, group, or family) and implement behavioral and environmental strategies to promote medical compliance and manage behavioral factors.

Provide suicide risk assessment and safety planning when indicated.

Work schedule typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm; duties may include coverage during crises or staffing shortages.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

U.S. Citizenship; English language proficiency as required by VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, section A.

Education: Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA/PCSAS/CPA-accredited program, or valid alternative path with approved re-specialization program and internship appropriate to the assignment. Other legacy/alternative pathways may apply as described in the original posting.

Internship: APA- or CPA-accredited internship or approved equivalent; board certification in a relevant specialty may be required or beneficial for certain hires.

Licensure: Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology in the United States (or territory/DC) or eligible for temporary appointment as a graduate psychologist with supervision if not licensed.

Experience/Grade Determination (GS-11 to GS-13):

GS-11: Entry level; no additional experience beyond basic requirements.

GS-12: At least one year of professional psychology experience beyond GS-11; supervised practice as needed.

GS-13: At least two years of professional psychology experience, with at least one year at GS-12 equivalent level; KSAs include knowledge of a wide range of treatments/assessments, ability to design/implement treatment strategies, clinical research capabilities, and ability to provide professional consultation.

Preferred: Neuropsychology postdoctoral residency, board eligibility in Neuropsychology, full unrestricted license, experience with medically fragile/rehabilitation populations, interdisciplinary team work, aging population psychology, crisis intervention and case management experience.
