Summary The Central Texas VA Health Care System is seeking a Physician (Radiologist - Chief of Imaging Service) responsible for overall management, planning, organization, direction, and control of all programs within Imaging Service. A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate.

Duties

The Chief - Imaging Service is responsible for fiscal oversight, patient satisfaction, patient care delivery, research activities, and interface with all other services of the VA Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS).

The Chief is engaged in facility and Imaging-level strategic, operational, and tactical planning and is aligned under the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff.

Supervises on‑board personnel; evaluates prospective new hires; oversees compliance with all applicable regulations; addresses patient complaints; handles credentialing and peer‑review issues; and responds to inquiries and investigations from Congress, the White House, VA Central Office, and national investigative bodies.

Participates as a member and/or leader of Imaging and CTVHCS‑wide committees responsible for peer review, accreditation, systems redesign, and quality improvement projects as assigned by the Office of the Chief of Staff.

Carrys out administrative duties as assigned in a timely, resourceful, and efficient manner.

Demonstrates interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills that enable establishment and maintenance of professional relationships with supervisees, peers, supervisors, and leaders at CTVHCS and higher levels.

Provides direct patient care in specialty area approximately 25‑30% of the time (negotiable).

Evaluates and prioritizes radiology orders; orders and evaluates appropriate laboratory studies; protocols and approves complex imaging exams; and notifies providers of critical imaging results.

Completes all VA reports for each patient examined, including appropriate CPT codes and diagnoses.

Functions part‑time as a Radiology‑Educator for medical and other health‑care trainees, including students, residents, and fellows as part of departmental duties.

Fosters an environment of mutual respect, free communication, and a culture of safety where individuals can point out problems without fear of retaliation.

Works to impart an expectation of personal sacrifice for the good of the Veterans served by the Imaging HCG.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule Monday – Friday (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Pay Range $300,000.00/yr – $400,000.00/yr
