Patent Agent
with a degree in engineering and/or computer science and a minimum of two years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution. The successful candidate will collaborate with attorneys in our Charlotte and Minneapolis offices and will have the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge technologies in a dynamic, team‑oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with attorneys and clients across a range of innovative industries, including medical devices, banking, consumer products, software, electronics, and more.
Build and manage both U.S. and international patent portfolios.
Draft and prosecute patent applications.
Conduct due diligence reviews.
Perform freedom‑to‑operate and patent landscape analyses.
Partner with colleagues and clients to navigate complex intellectual property challenges and uncover strategic opportunities.
Collaborate with attorneys in Charlotte and Minneapolis offices.
Qualifications
At least two years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
Undergraduate degree in engineering.
Background in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, computer science, or a related engineering field is preferred.
Strong academic credentials.
Excellent analytical abilities.
Polished writing skills.
Registration to practice before the USPTO is strongly preferred.
Hybrid or in‑office work arrangements, with a strong preference for candidates based in or near Charlotte or Minneapolis.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary/Wage Range: $120,000 – $175,000 annually.
Base pay plus merit‑based raises.
