Sous Chef - DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Boston Cambridge
The DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Boston – Cambridge, an iconic property overlooking the Charles River, is seeking a Sous Chef to join their culinary team. The hotel offers a seasonal rooftop restaurant, live music at Scullers Jazz Club, and event space. It’s only a half mile from Harvard Business School, one mile from Harvard Square, and less than two miles from Boston University and MIT.
The position reports to the Executive Chef and will help oversee 10‑15 union kitchen team members working out of one kitchen that supports multiple hotel outlets.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Executive Chef in the direction and oversight of all culinary operations, including preparation and production of all hotel meals, food quality and presentation, compliance with safety and sanitation standards, team member productivity and performance, implementation of policies and procedures, cost controls and overall profitability.
Create and implement menu selections for special banquet themes and events based on current food trends and regional tastes in partnership with the Executive Chef and Director of Food & Beverage.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and company health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards.
Assist in monitoring and developing team member performance, providing supervision, conducting counseling, assisting with evaluations, training, scheduling and assigning work, and delivering recognition and reward.
Qualifications and Experience
2‑3 years of hotel outlet or full‑service restaurant culinary leadership experience.
Experience with union teams and/or multi‑outlet environments is an asset.
Strong leadership, problem‑solving and solutions‑oriented mindset.
Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards of quality and cleanliness.
Salary Annual salary range: $60,000 – $70,000 (based on experience and location).
