General Summary The Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center (NAEC) is located at Dallas Executive Airport and is the flagship educational initiative of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF). The facility includes a museum, a working aircraft hangar, classroom spaces, and event rental spaces. The NAEC’s mission is to inspire and educate through aviation. The Director of Retail will grow the online shopping presence for both the CAF and NAEC while ensuring a quality on‑site gift shop, creating a dynamic retail experience for aviation enthusiasts of all ages.

Responsibilities

Serve as the head purchaser, selecting items that align with CAF and NAEC themes, aircraft, and events.

Analyze retail trends, online shopping habits, and visitor behavior to make decisions about product mix, marketing, and pricing.

Maintain optimal product inventory levels.

Ensure fulfillment of online orders.

Develop and implement an e‑commerce strategy to expand the CAF’s reach, with special emphasis on coordination with aviation events.

Work with the NAEC Marketing Specialist to develop and execute local and national retail marketing plans.

Oversee operations of the NAEC admission desk and exhibition spaces as scheduled.

Skills

Financial management, including budgeting, sales forecasting, and cost control.

Data analysis skills for retail trends, customer data, and market opportunities.

Ability to craft a vision from aviation themes to develop brand identity and marketing strategies.

Proficiency in inventory management.

Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Proficient with Microsoft 365 and related applications.

Strong independent work ethic with confidentiality and teamwork capabilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, retail management, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

At least three years of retail experience with emphasis on buying, vendor negotiations, and e‑commerce; museum or non‑profit retail experience preferred.

Experience with inventory management, merchandising, and point‑of‑sale systems.

Flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Physical Demands

Frequent handling and grasping of objects.

Office‑related tasks at a desk while sitting, including keyboarding, phone use, and filing.

Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and kneeling.

Occasional travel by car or aircraft, including out‑of‑area or overnight trips.

Salary Range $60,000 - $65,000
